It's a new day

I don't really know how to begin this post or how to even go back to blogging after everything that has happened since Hurricane Sandy hit the New York / New Jersey area. I have never witnessed anything as devastating and heartbreaking as watching my dad lose his home and family belongings, but I am so thankful that he and the family are safe and sound, which is more than I can say for some of his neighbors. My 5 year old brother and sister spent a few days with me (I live in a lucky area that seemed to escape the storm), but they're back with their parents and are staying at their grandmother's house, in an effort to resume their school routines and feel a sense of normalcy. The outpour of help and support given by friends and volunteers has been incredibly inspiring and uplifting. Although the borough of Staten Island is a war zone and looks like a post-Apocalyptic movie set, the beautiful spirit of the people is unshakeable and even stronger than before. United we stand, united we fall, united we rise and rebuild. I am proud to say that humanity is alive and well and I am looking forward to the rainbow after the storm. Please pray for those who lost everything in this disaster and appreciate every moment you have with your loved ones.

If you would like to help a family who lost everything to Hurricane Sandy, please send your donations through PayPal to AzrDesign@mail.ru -- no amount is too small, we Thank You!

  9. I too have lost everything I've ever owned do to a natural disaster (Flood) and I know what its like to have to pick up all the pieces. Tell your family to hold on everything will get better and although they may have lost all their material possessions which can be replaced and at least they still have each other which is something that can never be replaced. Stay strong and much love to you and your family through this chaotic time.

  12. Thank God you and your family are safe! The storm has been so devastating. Even though I live all the way across the country in California, the devastation has hit all the way over here. Many of my peers are from that area and have family who has been touched by this tragedy. I send my prayers to everyone!

  13. I'm so sorry to hear about your father's home :( A lot of people I know lost their homes & it's so sad, I wish there was something I could do. I want to volunteer so badly, but I'm sure you know the gas situation right now. Long Island is crazy with lines & just selling out of the stuff period. I'll keep you & your loved ones in my prayers, it's gonna take a while for NY to bounce back from this<3
