Bluesy Neutrals

Bonjour mes amis! It's the last day of the month and I'm closing it off with a pop of color! A few days ago, I received my first batch of Makeup Geek eye shadows and gel liners to play with and wanted my first MUG look to be wearable, fun and holiday-appropriate. With Hanukkah right around the corner, I thought I'd focus on blues and whites (or in this case, neutrals) to deliver a bright-yet-suble look that anyone can replicate!

November's Glossybox Brings Back Memories...

Salut mes amis! As the title of this post suggests, this month's Glossybox has really inspired me to reminisce and revisit... a simpler era of makeup I grew up on and one that is making a creeping come-back: the 90's! I was a 90's kid for sure and am really drawn to brown makeup and gothic style; however, since I'm not 13 anymore, I'm revamping my inner goth child and giving her a modern outlook.

A Glossy Challenge: Day to Night Makeup Contest!

Salut mes amis! I'm baaack :)) Today's 2-in-1 makeup post has been entered into Glossybox's Vlogger contest and with your participation, you and I can both be winners! A couple of weeks ago, my friends at Glossybox challenged me to create a day-to-night smokey eye look / tutorial using only four products. I love a good challenge, so I accepted Glossybox's proposal and got busy! For this contest, I created a 5-step daytime look that transforms to an evening look in five easy steps. I also included a "pictorial-tutorial" taking you through all the steps and a VIDEO SLIDESHOW (my first one!), so you can easily replicate this fun, 2-in-1 Smokey Eye -- and take it from Day to Night!

Check out the rest of the post and don't forget to cast your VOTE for ME!!! Your vote enters you to win the products featured in this look, as well as a 3-month subscription to the best beauty sampling subscription service -- Glossybox!!

TO VOTE: Go to Glossybox US Facebook Page Vlogger Contest and cast your vote for Maryam Maquillage! I'm up against some seasoned vloggers, and though I'm not a vlogger, I am so grateful to Glossybox for including me and giving my followers the opportunity to win some awesome prizes! Thanks Glossybox!!

The Sun Always Rises

Hi guys, today's makeup post is symbolic and optimistic, dedicated to all the victims of Hurricane Sandy, including my family: my father, his wife, and my 5-year-old brother and sister who have lost their home and belongings to this horrible disaster. Although their situation is extremely tough and emotionally overwhelming, we are staying hopeful and positive, thanks to all the incredible support we've received from friends, family, volunteers and even selfless strangers. After the storm, the sun always rises, and we are looking forward to a brighter future!

It's a new day

I don't really know how to begin this post or how to even go back to blogging after everything that has happened since Hurricane Sandy hit the New York / New Jersey area. I have never witnessed anything as devastating and heartbreaking as watching my dad lose his home and family belongings, but I am so thankful that he and the family are safe and sound, which is more than I can say for some of his neighbors. My 5 year old brother and sister spent a few days with me (I live in a lucky area that seemed to escape the storm), but they're back with their parents and are staying at their grandmother's house, in an effort to resume their school routines and feel a sense of normalcy. The outpour of help and support given by friends and volunteers has been incredibly inspiring and uplifting. Although the borough of Staten Island is a war zone and looks like a post-Apocalyptic movie set, the beautiful spirit of the people is unshakeable and even stronger than before. United we stand, united we fall, united we rise and rebuild. I am proud to say that humanity is alive and well and I am looking forward to the rainbow after the storm. Please pray for those who lost everything in this disaster and appreciate every moment you have with your loved ones.

If you would like to help a family who lost everything to Hurricane Sandy, please send your donations through PayPal to AzrDesign@mail.ru -- no amount is too small, we Thank You!
