"Sweet-n-Edgy" Fall Look & Makeup

Salut mes belles! Fall is officially here and I'm switching up my beauty and styling routine. The changing of the seasons is the best time to experiment with fashion and mix up new trends. This fall, I'm swaying from the typical earth tones and whipping out the cooler tones instead to complement the cloudier days and the darker nights. I'm letting down my hair, keeping it long, sleek and straight and I'm layering it up with separates. My color palette and overall style is sweet yet edgy, highlighted with accents of pink and doses of sharp edgy accessories.

"Tropical Fruit" Exotic Makeup

Hello my darlings and Happy Labor Day! I'm back from my adventurous Southeast Asian vacation and I'm full of inspiration, motivation and new ideas. I've missed blogging terribly and I've missed you all even more! As much as I would've loved to have blogged on location, my itinerary was jam-packed with activities and I simply couldn't find the time (nor the readily available internet access); plus, I desperately needed a break and decided it was my time to escape. Hence, my blog took a stand-still for almost a month (Yikes! but y'all forgive me, right? ;) and I'm excited to return today on a brighter note, a fresher breath, and a more rejuvenated outlook on beauty and life. I've taken home a ton of memories and musings and today's makeup post is based off some of my favorite recollections.

Shall we?

50 Shades of Pink!

Salut mes amis! Can you count all the hearts in the above collage? If so, then you know that this look is once again inspired by Valentine's Day. Pink is my favorite color (along with yellow) and today I'm celebrating all the shades of PINK -- there are far more than just 50!! I've created a fun, avant-garde look focusing on glittery sugar-heart lips, shimmery cat eyes and one fabulously PINK vintage lady hat that dates back all the way to the 1940's!! Can you just imagine the fashionista who owned it -- she must've been a Diva in her day!

Light, Bright & Lovely

Mornin' y'all! Today's quick post is an up-close featuring a contrasting duo of soft baby pink eyeshadow and sharp shimmery jet black cat-eyeliner. I love this modern take on the classic pin-up eye, and I wear it almost daily. A lot of people ask about my favorite type of makeup for everyday, so I thought I'd share one of my personal classics.

Simply Organic!

Happy Friday mes amis!!

If you're a regular follower of my blog, then you remember that a couple of weeks ago, I reviewed some wonderful eyeshadows from an all Green makeup brand Zosimos Botanicals. I was so pleased with the quality of the shadows that one post was simply not enough and I decided to do another makeup look. My original "Rockin' Organix" look was quite conceptual and dramatic--I wanted to show that one can create an edgy makeup look using mineral eye shadows. This time, I'm featuring a very wearable, every day ensemble and something that even a makeup rookie can replicate. For a full review and description of the products and the brand, revisit my Rockin' Organix post or go to Zosimos' website for more info.

Princess in PINK

Hey hey beauty lovers :))

As promised, today's post is a personal photo update, a makeup look and a tutorial in one--so get ready, it's gonna be a long read. The maquillage I'm featuring is a "pink-and-princess-themed" makeup look I wore to a kiddie party to represent a princess, though not a specific one. Last weekend was my 4-year-old brother and sister's bday and we threw them a small "royal bash" to celebrate the occasion. They love anything and everything related to princes, princesses, kings and queens (my bro is more into knights and sorcerers), so all the guests had to dress appropriately. Sadly, both of them caught a bad cold and the party had to be postponed to a later date, but the parents decided not to waste the decorations and still hold a small family affair just to make the kiddies feel extra special. Being a crazy older sister, I had a gown planned and all, however, after hearing the bad news, I set my princess attire aside and settled for a tiara (borrowed from my sis) and lots of PINK all over. Here's my everyday princess makeup look worn to my brother and sister's 4th bday bash.

V-Day Pregame

Salut les filles :))

Happy Friday and Happy Bornday to GiGi!!! So many holidays and birthdays this month--it is an overwhelming and exciting time of the year :)) Let's see, what's in store today...? My poll has closed and the winner of the most feared makeup trend is ::drumroll::..... Red Eyeshadow, of course. I fear it too, but I'm looking forward to experimenting and exploring the bloody trend, (said in my best British accent ;) so be on the lookout for the Red Eye post coming up very soon. A lot of you have also been asking me to do a how-to on lashes, and since my Lashtite semi-permanent glue and remover (for individual lashes/extensions) have just arrived in my mailbox, I'll have that tutorial coming up asap. For now, you can go to my Lady Vengeance post, scroll down to the bottom and read about the application of strip lashes (non-permanent falsies). I'll also have a bridal makeup tutorial for all you brides-to-be, and I'll try to fulfill some earlier celebrity requests, so don't forget to check back!!

Today's post will launch the countdown to V-Day... and I'll start it off short and sweet. Valentine's Day makeup can be as dramatic or natural as you like, but the key is keeping it romantic and feminine. This look will be perfect for the daytime, just to commemorate the holiday while you're at the office or perhaps on your day off with your significant other. Hope you enjoy!!

bisous,

Maryam Maquillage

P. S. It's V-Day for Egypt!!!
