Bonjour mes amis! I think I'm in love! I found the world's most sophisticated glitter polish and I'm so obsessed with it -- I kind of want to lick it! I'm talking about none other than China Glaze Nail Lacquer in It's A Trap-eze from the Cirque du Soleil Worlds Away Collection. This is my favorite CG collection thus far, and It's A Trap-eze! is my number one pick. For the sake of this post, I took the liberty of decorating on top, but I'll tell you a secret: I actually wore this polish ALONE for three whole days... that's how much I love it! This is the first time I've done that in over 2 years :)

Pink-n-Green for Spring!

Salut mes belles! Valentine's Day has come and gone, which means that my month-long V-Day makeup prep is now finished... yay!! As much as I enjoyed it, I'm kinda relieved that it's over and I'm so excited to jump back into makeup art and re-introduce fresh color combos to my repertoire. For the remainder of February, I'll be creating looks without any special events in mind, for the "just because" occasion. With spring right around the corner, I'm focusing on green and sprucing it up with pink, to showcase and inspire you to try one of my favorite color pairings. Together, pink and green are fun, bright and refreshing; the combo revives dull complexions, revamps winter makeup and adds a dose of unexpected cool to any look. In this post, I'm highlighting three ways to wear this funky combo and I'm kicking it off with Pantone's color of the year: Emerald.

NYFW 2013: Vivienne Tam

Bonjour mes amis! New York Fashion Week is over, but I'm still excited, inspired and totally lingering under my impression of the moment. One of my favorite shows from this season was the Vivienne Tam Fall / Winter 2013 Collection at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, which I attended on Sunday. I joined my friends from Incoco in the awesome craze of backstage, got to meet and interview MUA's, hair stylists and models, then enjoyed the runway and snapped tons of pics. "Sealed With a Kiss"

Smooches mes amis! It's a busy week for your mademoiselle, so today's post is quick and to the point: themed around Valentine's Day. I wore this lip/nails combo to the Vivienne Tam show at Fashion Week on Sunday, which I will cover in my next post, but for now I'll focus solely on my beauty attire aka my lips & nails. I wore this mani to represent my friends at Incoco who were doing the nails for the show and let me tell you -- this nailart was the talk of the town backstage! Way to go Incoco!! <3

"Modern Romanticism" at Whit NYFW 2013

Bonjour mes amis! As you may have guessed, New York Fashion Week is one of my favorite times of the year. Blizzard or not, but in the name of fashion, I will find a way to attend as many shows as I can, even if it means that I wear my galoshes. As a beauty blogger, I'm particularly interested in everything that goes on backstage -- the prep, the makeup, the hair and of course, the nails. Salut mes amis! Can you count all the hearts in the above collage? If so, then you know that this look is once again inspired by Valentine's Day. Pink is my favorite color (along with yellow) and today I'm celebrating all the shades of PINK -- there are far more than just 50!! I've created a fun, avant-garde look focusing on glittery sugar-heart lips, shimmery cat eyes and one fabulously PINK vintage lady hat that dates back all the way to the 1940's!! Can you just imagine the fashionista who owned it -- she must've been a Diva in her day!

Valentine's "Hearts" Nail Art Made Easy!

Salut mes amis! Today's simple hearts nail art is a popular Valentine's Day request, so I've filmed a DIY nails tutorial for all of you to follow along. I'm teaching three different ways how to create hearts on the nails and I'm using three ridiculously easy methods that you will love! In this quick tutorial, you'll learn how to cut-out heart stencils, apply rhinestones (or studs), as well as hand-paint the heart shape on your nails. "Heroine Chic" & Naked Palettes

 

Salut mes amis! I hope you're all happy and healthy!! It's flu season and your girl Maryam has definitely caught a bad one. This time, I'm not alone -- Mr. Maquillage and I are both sick and have been quarantined in our apartment for the past few days, trying to rest up and recuperate for next week. As always, I like to take advantage of any and every situation, so I created a makeup look based around my sickness... What are paleness and black circles good for if not for bad-ass, grungy, "heroin chic" makeup? Of course, I'm just kidding. I don't advise any of you to go out when you're sick, however, I will say that conceptualizing this idea and bringing it to life actually made me feel better and more productive. I loved it so much, I can't wait to wear it again when I'm healthy and back to normal!

Cool Makeup Tips for a "Winter Princess"

Bonjour mes belles! To celebrate winter-time, I created this sparkling, enchanting "Winter Princess" makeup look to wear to any outing or special occasion of the season. I was inspired by the many wintry wonders in nature: delicate snowflakes, ornate icicles, cool blue sky and glistening snow. Although it hasn't yet snowed in NY, (nor am I anticipating it) -- one of my New Year's resolutions is to strive to embrace the things I am not comfortable with and to find beauty in the unlikely. Today, I'm translating this notion to makeup and painting my least favorite season as a beautiful one. In doing so, I'm also showcasing how to wear cool makeup tones, even if your skin tone is warm. I'm using a few eyeshadows from the Naked 2 palette, as well as a couple of colorful shades and products from some of my favorite brands.

Fierce Klawz for NYE

Salut mes amis! For this New Years Eve, I'm going all out and piling on the shimmer, the glitter and the sequins. This is the perfect time of the year to experiment with kitschy, over the top styles and even be a little gaudy! You'll have the rest of the winter to be neutral and boring, but today is the day for going out and showing off a little! I definitely have a tacky little Russian leopard living inside of me, and tonight I'll be unleashing her wicked klawz, disco ball makeup and teensy get-up -- Why? Cuz it's 2013 and I'm living it up!!!
