Taupe & Smokey Pour Amélie :)

Salut mes belles et mes beaus!! Joyeux Vendredi -- Happy Friday!! Today's look is a request from Amélie, asking for a nude, fresh and sophisticated summer look concentrating on the eyes. Amélie was very clear about what she wanted: a taupe smokey eye for almond-shaped -- though not Asian -- brown eyes. I was very touched by this special request, not only because it was written in French, but also because it was quite specific and I'm a sucker for specificity. I love it when people know what they want and aren't afraid to ask for it; I especially admire that about the French. Anyway, I hope the rest of you, my lovely readers, can enjoy and utilize this look for yourselves. On to the maquillage!

Weatherly Changes NailArt

Salut mes belles et mes beaus!! As you can see, my weatherly nails are finally here and today is cloudy and rainy, just like my middle finger Wednesday :)) I've seen clouds and raindrops on quite a few nail blogs, so this nailart is not my original idea. To make it my own, I decided to include several elements to create a whole 10-day weather forecast!! In this post, I'll also be discussing the awesome gradient effect I used on my base... and guess what? It can be achieved with one single nail polish... that's right, only one!!! Chinese (Secret) Garden

Ni-hao friends :)) Spring has officially sprung, and although it is now much cooler in NY than it was about a week ago, every aspect of life seems to be blooming and flourishing. With spring colors so fresh, one doesn't need to go far in search of inspiration and I found mine right outside of my home.

Boho-Glam Siren

Hey guys, today's look is a boho springy version of my Hot Morange & Naked 2 Cool look from about a month ago. The reason for this remake (and you can probably relate) is that whenever I find a lipstick that I like, I always end up buying more similar shades, creating a rather unnecessary dupes collection. As you may have guessed, orange has become my new red, and it is especially fitting for the spring time. The MAC Morange lipstick I wore in the original look got a ton of feedback, both eager and hesitant, so today I'm featuring a lip color that may even suit the skeptics of the Orange trend.

What lip color am I wearing?

Hippie Pink

Bonjour mes amis! First and foremost, I want to thank you all for taking out the time to vote in my poll on the sidebar. I'm working on improving this blog, so I really appreciate your input and value your opinion in this matter. Thanks again and please vote if you haven't! Secondly, as you can see above, today's look is prêt-à-porter (ready-to-wear) featuring my new favorite hot pink eyeliner. This look is bright, fun, quick and easy and it's my favorite way to play up Asian eyes!

Mariposa Maravellosa

Hello old friends and new!!! Happy Sunday :)) This week has been pretty darn great and I'm fluttering through it like a happy butterfly. I rarely share anything outside of the subject of makeup and beauty, but since I'm feeling so uplifted, I want to announce that I finally picked up my diploma this Friday and am proud to say that I graduated magna cum laude. To reward my achievement, I did exactly what you'd expect me to do -- I went on a shopping spree! Today's look is the result of some of my beauty purchases, including the Mariposa Palette by Urban Decay. Now, I can truly flutter through the limitless sky like a marvelous butterfly :))

Sunday Eye

Salut mes belles!! It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood and today's post is a quick EOTD (who else is thrown off by the daylight savings?) showcasing my gold and gray Sunday eye makeup look. On a bright, cheerful, "daylight-saving" day like today, I love to wear shimmery gold eye shadows to reflect the sunlight and bounce off the rays on to everyone I lay my eyes on! I have a busy fun-filled day lined up ahead of me, so this is my perfect playful look to transition me from daytime to party-time!

Marilyn Makiaj isn't afraid of color!

Salut mes belles!! The look I'm featuring today is part of a colorful makeup competition I entered on the Makeupbee beauty community which was personally inspired by the awesome wig sent to me by the lovely people at KKcenterHK. The contest rules call for a look that is fun, vibrant and colorful, so without a second thought, I put on my wig, grabbed my Coastal Scents palettes and got to work. The prize is an amazing collection of Sugarpill eyeshadows (the makeup brand that is pretty much synonymous with color and saturation) and I'm excited to share that three winners will be chosen to receive the prize! With that said, I want to encourage you to submit your own looks, so we can all be winners :))) While you're there, don't forget to tell 'em who sent you and vote for my eye look from this post entitled the Eye of the Tropics. To Vote:

Pink on Pink a la Emma

Bonjour mes belles!! As you can see from the preview pic above, my maquillage du jour is inspired by none other than red carpet starlet Emma Stone. Emma was one of my favorite ladies at Sunday's Oscars and I couldn't help but recreate her pretty makeup look. I brightened up the eyes and lips to better suit my coloring and I aimed my look for daytime wear.

Favorite Fashion & Beauty choices from the Oscars 2012

Salut mes amis and Congratulations to 'the Artist' and Jean Dujardin for sweeping the Oscars last night!!! I said it on FB and I'll say it again, I LOVE THE FRENCH!!! I was also really proud of Octavia Spencer, she was so cute in her acceptance speech, and Meryl Streep, even though it was her gazillionth Academy win... all in all, I wasn't disappointed and I thoroughly enjoyed covering the Oscars fashion on Twitter and Facebook!
P. S. The Dictator vs. Ryan Seacrest = EPIC
In today's Oscar's fashion and beauty assessment, I am featuring all the looks that I liked and some that I didn't get. This time, I'm not issuing a report card as I did with my Golden Globes assessment, because to me, all the choices were on the rather safe side. The above collage features some of my favorites:
  • Shailene Woodley (The Descendants) in an unforgettable, figure hugging Valentino Couture
  • Angelina Jolie--fierce, fearless and fashionably late in a black velvet Atelier Versace gown. Thanks to its thigh high side slit, Angie's right leg now has its own Twitter account!
  • Emma Stone--my favorite new it-girl--in a darling big bow fuchsia gown by Giambattista Valli

Highlighter & Hardware Neon Nails!

Welcome old friends and new!!! Happy 1000!!! It was an absolute delight to see a 4 digit number appear in my followers box and I couldn't be more excited--yay to all of you, yaaaaayyyy!!! Today, I'm celebrating this joyous occasion with a funky-neon-90's-inspired manicure to brighten up my Monday and yours :))) I'm typically into girly manicures (i. e. my Valentine's nail looks 1 & 2), but I was itching to try something different this time. Invigorated by the positive feedback I received for my "highlighter & hardware" eye look from a few posts ago, I decided to revisit the concept and do a nail design from the same series. Voila!

Date Night!

Salut mes belles! Today's look is a recreation of a gorgeous date night look I saw on Beautylish's resident beauty and mua Jasmine J. I hardly ever do makeup recreations, but this look was so stunning and the tutorial so well put together, that I simply couldn't resist! I wore this date night makeup last night while out and about, and also to my mom's bday dinner--needless to say, it was a great success :)) The face chart picture used for the collage is borrowed from the Beautylish tutorial, so go ahead and check out the original if you're interested in copying this look.

Naked palettes for every day!

Bonjour mes belles!!! I hope you all had a lovely Valentine's Day with your beaus <3 or if you didn't celebrate, I hope you are happy and healthy and your week is going great! My week has been busy as heck, as February is always a really big month for me. Not only is there Valentine's Day, but every single important person in my life was born in this month, so the celebrations are endless and I literally don't have any days to myself--not that I am complaining! February is great and I love every single Aquarius in my life :)) During this hectic time, my makeup routine is usually very quick and simple for every day, and this is where my beloved Naked & Naked 2 palettes have come in very handy. The 2 looks I'm featuring today have been my transitional day-to-evening makeup ensembles, and I've been wearing them to various casual & semi-casual functions.
