"Modern Romanticism" at Whit NYFW 2013

Bonjour mes amis! As you may have guessed, New York Fashion Week is one of my favorite times of the year. Blizzard or not, but in the name of fashion, I will find a way to attend as many shows as I can, even if it means that I wear my galoshes. As a beauty blogger, I'm particularly interested in everything that goes on backstage -- the prep, the makeup, the hair and of course, the nails. This is my second fashion week as a beauty blogger and this season, we kicked it off at Whit

Whit's fall collection channels a young Marianne Faithfull, emphasizing romantic movements and themes. Following a brighter Spring collection, Fall settles on a darker palette with fresh plays on plaids, paisleys and animal prints. The moody hues of ruby, forest green and deep blue are accented with bold stripes and lace detailing, while being paired with colored shearlings and metallic coated wools.

I'm quite drawn to the feminine sensuality of Whit's Fall Collection. The leopard jumper, paisley skirt and navy pea-coat stand out as my favorite pieces. I'm also loving the striped sweaters and the leather dress -- this collection is mod, yet modern, wearable and super smart.
The Beauty at Whit

Makeup: Bobbi Brown, Key MUA Marc Reagan

Key makeup artist Marc Reagan aimed at creating a makeup look that juxtaposes the season's heavier textures and deeper shades and played up the youthful aspect of Whit's muse with bright rosy cheeks, smokey nude eyes and a sheer pink lip. For the models' skin, Reagan used Bobbi Brown Flawless Skin Foundation and flushed the cheeks with Bobbi Brown Natural Blush in Pale Pink. On the lips, the models wore Sailor Lip Gloss without any liner to give the appearance of a pretty youthful pout. I watched as Reagan created a chocolate ombré cat eye using Bobbi Brown BitterSweet cream shadow stick and famous Black Ink gel liner for a finish that is reminiscent of the period. Natural, defined brows and velvety lashes completed the eye look. Reagan used Bobbi Brown Extreme Party Mascara to build up the volume of the models' natural lashes and even told me that falsies may now be a thing of the past... sob.
Nails: Kiss, Lead Manicurist Gina Edwards

As the head manicurist for Kiss, Celebrity Nail Artist Gina Edwards applied Kiss Nail Dress in Teddy to the models' fingertips. Teddy, a studded black and gold 3D pattern, conveyed the image of "Girl Next Door" and "Rocker By Night" and worked seamlessly with Whit's Fall Collection. Kiss Nail Dress is the perfect choice for New York Fashion Week and “Brings an ease to the flow backstage, with no drying time and no mess. The models are in and out of the chair with a perfect manicure in minutes!” noted Edwards.

Availability: Kiss Nail Dress in Teddy is available at Walgreens and select drugstore nationwide, retailing for about $7 per set.
I was there too, along with my fashionable bestie boo Joshua Myrie :)
