Fire Eyes, Flaming Lips

Cheers mes amis!

A while ago, I posted a poll asking you to choose one of your most feared makeup trends. Although I don't exactly remember the choices, I remember the outcome. Not surprisingly, red eyeshadow was feared by nearly 75% of you (myself included), so I thought I'd confront this fear and give red eye a try. Here's what I came up with, so fear no more!

Forget everything you heard about red shadow and embrace these facts:
  1. Red makes the whites of your eyes whiter and brighter
  2. Skin appears more even and redness is reduced (!!!)
  3. Red eyeshadow is different. Your makeup is guaranteed to stand out of the crowd, duh :)

Pop spLASHes

Salut les filles and wink wink :))

Today's post is a quickie, showing off one of my favorite super easy makeup looks and testing out some newly purchased products. For this look, I paired a bright blue mascara on my lashes with a sheer pink lip stain on the lips for the ultimate easy Sunday maquillage. Another great perk to this makeup look is that it takes virtually no time in applying! Enjoy your Sunday funday :))

Sparkling Selena

Salut les filles et les garçons...

Since starting my blog almost 3 months ago, I've gotten a lot of questions about the makeup looks I showcase and how to apply the tutorials to individual skin tones, eye colors, etc. I've been doing my best to answer each and every concern, however, I have not been showing any pictures or dedicating any posts, until now... :)

Finalement!! I have a victim/volunteer--and am super excited to present today's maquillage du jour: Sparkling, Passionate, Purple Grape on the lovely Selena.

Tell me she isn't channelling a young Janet Jackson here?!!

Rain on my Parade!

Bonjour!

Here's a quick mid-week maquillage du jour or makeup look of the day. I wanted to keep it simple and chic, and what better way to do it than through a spring inspired smokey eye. Sometimes I like to match my makeup to the colors outside, and since its been pretty cloudy and drizzly, today's look is all about embracing the blues and grays of Spring's rainy days. So go ahead and rain on my parade (just don't snow :))

I spoke too soon...

Spruced Up Spring Green

Joyeux Printemps!!!

I'm celebrating Spring by whipping out my makeup palettes of brights, pastels, satins and shimmery eyeshadows! See ya later smokey eye, hello and wink wink flirty eye ;) I love experimenting with colorful shadows, so the next few makeup looks will be girly and fun, just in time for spring. As always, I'll be including some of my makeup tips and tricks and a tutorial on how to achieve the look. Let me know if you have any requests and I'll gladly take on the challenge.

I love love love that short transitional period in New York, the week and a half that falls in between winter and summer, when the temperatures are perfect and the people are all eager to mate... I'm exaggerating, of course, but if you've never lived in NYC, expect either unbearably hot or unbearably cold, unless you're lucky to catch the teensy season (a month at the most) of Spring aka Sprinter...

When I think of Spring, I think of the color Green sprouting from the earth and the cherry blossom tree outside of my building (can't wait for it to bloom!). I also think of all the exciting color filled holidays--March 8th, St. Patrick's Day, Purim, Easter, etc. Forgive me, I'm a little behind on my holidays, but I know some of you take it very seriously, so I'll try to match my makeup looks to the upcoming celebrations. So, in honor of Spring and St. Patrick's Day passed (don't ask me how I how got around the city that day), here's my Maquillage du Jour or Makeup Look of the Day: Spruced Up Spring Green... now say that three times.

Pretty Purple

Salut mes amis,

If you're just stumbling onto this blog, welcome, and I hope you like makeup. This page is dedicated to all things beauty related--makeup advice, beauty tips, cosmetics reviews and makeup looks of the day or maquillage du jour. I take requests and am fully at your service to answer any questions or concerns about anything aforementioned. If you've been here before, thanks for coming back!!! If you're one of my dear faithful friends, I appreciate each and every one of you and want to thank you sooo much for your support :)) you've all been amazing!!!

 ❤❤❤

Now that I've completed my mini love shout-out... I hope you've all had a restorative weekend :)) Mine was really great, it was filled with love (yay), laughter and family--three ingredients to making me tres heureuse (happy). Saturday was my papa's bday, so naturally there was lots of wine involved and I sooo needed it. Other than the lame time change, the weekend festivities have restored me and left me very content.

Today's post is for my Miss Larry, a simple pretty makeup look using the Urban Decay deluxe shadow box, which she recently purchased. If you don't have this palette, do not fear--you absolutely don't need to have this exact product (although the colors are phenomenal). You can certainly recreate the look using whatever shadows you have. I just wanted to attempt something simple and everyday, using very bright and shimmery shadows, plus Larry put in her request :))) Voila!!

Midnight Kiss

Bonjour les filles...

It's been a long dark week of hard labor, ups, downs and rain... as it comes to a close, I find myself in desperate need of an artistic outlet. When I was a carefree little girl, I would paint... today, with less time and more inhibitions, I continue to paint... only it's no longer on paper or canvas. Now, I paint on my face... sometimes for fun, sometimes to ease those inhibitions, and mostly because it's my way of relaxing and enjoying some quality time with myself. What can I say, I like to Fix My Face and you should too, it is, after all, a form of self-expression!!

Since so many of my friends have approached me over the years with questions about makeup, nails, shopping, and other female topics, I decided to start this blog to answer them all here and share my passion for all things beauty-related. If you've been following me from the beginning, thank you and I hope I've left you satisfied. I am at your service, so go ahead and ask me anything :))

My maquillage du jour is featuring two Darkness inspired looks, focusing on the dark lipstick trend from my last post, but the styles are very different. I tried to vary the flavors to suit everyone's taste, so let me know which one's your flavor :))

à la Film Noir

Salut cheries :))

I know my title is grammatically incorrect... excuse moi. This is how we, Americans, would say it, and I know we screw up everything, so please do not mind. In this post, I will be fulfilling a request for dark lipstick maquillage inspired by Film Noir and Gucci's recent take on it, as well as show you how to balance it with eye makeup. Ooo-La-la!!! For the dark lip, I did three eye looks, and I'll include the other two in my next post so this one doesn't have to be super long. For now, check out my maquillage du jour, let me know what you think, and keep your requests coming!!!

bisous,

Viva Scarlett Feva!

Salut les filles :))

If you can't tell by the title of my post, my maquillage du jour is inspired by the one and only Scarlett Johansson. The look I'm replicating today was worn by Miss Scarlett to Sunday's Academy Awards. Although, she got a lot of hate from the fashion police, I think she was by far the best dressed on the red carpet, and certainly deserves an award for her makeup and gown. Besides, who made Giuliana and Kelly Osbourne experts anyway?... they know nothing about looking good. With that said, my beautiful muse receives the Scarlett Letter A from moi :))

P. S. In this look, I will not be pretending like I'm Scarlett Jo; I'm not blond and I look nothing like her (shucks), so I'll be applying the makeup as I would on moi :))

Moody Blues + DIY French

Salut mes cheries :))

This is me, today... Candidly moving my hair from my face and showing off my fresh French. I like this pic, because it perfectly describes my mood today--a bit anxious and a bit moody... don't worry, I won't take it out on you :))

It was a gloomy, warm Monday in NYC, and as it's coming to a close, I'd like to end it on a positive note. I'll share with you my makeup of the day and I'll walk you through my do-it-yourself French manicure. Hope you enjoy :)))

bisous,

Maryam Maquillage
