Tracks On My Snow-Nails

Hello beauty lovers :))

Time for my weekly nail update!! This wintry nail design was envisioned by my papa and created by moi. My dad is a poster artist and graphic designer, so he's always giving me funky and original (nail) art ideas. This "snow tracks" nail design is simple and easy to create, but with enough interest to make someone look twice and appreciate your mani. Best part--it goes with everything!!

Jewel Tones & Precious Stones

Salut mes amis :))

October has come and gone and November is officially here to bring 2011 closer and closer to the end. How quickly time flies--it seems just yesterday I was blogging about the beginning of summer, beach days, tan skin, and bright colors... Oh well... Now I get to talk about autumn colors!! I'm starting the month off by whipping out my Urban Decay Naked Palette (last month I've been challenging myself to use other products and I've missed my baby) and reviving my plummy, fall appropriate smokey eye and glossy lip. Here's a simple makeup look & jewel tone ensemble I wore last week to my bday dinner with my besties.

T-Shirt Tyme!

Hey old friends and new!!!

Today's post is a quickie, focusing on clothing rather than makeup and showing off a bit of my personal style. Since posting my Blair and Serena makeup posts, I've received a few questions about my dressing style, as well as requests to share pictures of things I like to wear. My style tends to vary depending on what I'm doing and where I'm going (like the rest of you, I'm sure), but I feel most comfortable in leggings, sweats or jeans and a T-shirt. So, in today's post I'm featuring my every day casual attire, centering around the graphic tee. Take a lookie:

Bonjour mes belles :)

I'm feeling melancholy and pensive, so I won't make it a long post of chatter... I'll just show you my eye of the day (something new for me) and the source of my inspiration. Hope you like this type of post :)

Smokey Eyes & Time for Wine

Bonjour les filles :))

Today, I'm going back to my challenge and showcasing a plummy smokey eye evening look I wore a few weeks ago to a day of various celebratory functions. At the beginning of the month, I challenged myself to incorporate different cosmetics brands into my makeup repertoire, as I had mostly been using Urban Decay for a lot of my makeup looks. Branching out to other makeup brands has been really fun and I've rediscovered a ton of great products that are both easy to use and easy to obtain. Who says you need fancy makeup to look fancy? Drug store makeup will do just fine ;)

Walking the High Line

Salut mes amis :))

As the fall season approaches and summer months come to a close, I begin to miss all the small things that are made exceptional when hugged by warm blankety weather. For me, one of those simple pleasures is taking long walks in my city with my beau and/or friends and stopping for occasional beer breaks. As much as I love friends, beer and strolls--I can only fully enjoy that combination in the summertime. Once the weather drops and the wind picks up, I tend to want to hibernate at home, in front of the telly... So, before I get any more ahead of myself, let me tell you about one of my favorite NYC summer hot spots to wear your walking shoes to: the one and only High Line park.

The High Line is a unique park that was built on top of an old elevated freight railroad, running on the west side of Manhattan from the Meatpacking district up to 34th Street, spanning about a 1.5 miles. The converted park has become a popular destination among New Yorkers and tourists alike thanks to its undeniably spectacular views of the city and peaceful, green-friendly ambiance. One thing for certain--this park was made with loads of palpable love that every New Yorker needs to appreciate in order to let go off the hustle and bustle. Check out my pix from my stroll and be sure to visit the High Line if you're ever in New York :))

Nail Jewels

Salut mes amis,

Quick nail post today, using my recently won nail polishes from Yami's giveaway, do check out her blog because she's dope :)) For this nail look, I used:

  • Sinful Colors Open Seas polish for base (the color of Tiffany's Box)
  • Old Navy glitter polish for tips (Gold, green and turquoise glitter; I've had this polish since I was about 12 and it's still as good as new)
  • Sinful Colors Verbena & Beautiful Girl for marbling the accent nail (Purple & Pink)

My water marbling didn't go so well, hence the reason why I only have one accent nail left with the swirls--the others were way off. I'm excited to practice more water marbling, so as soon as I master the skill, I will show and share :))
Pretty Darn Close to Tiffany's...

Princess in PINK

Hey hey beauty lovers :))

As promised, today's post is a personal photo update, a makeup look and a tutorial in one--so get ready, it's gonna be a long read. The maquillage I'm featuring is a "pink-and-princess-themed" makeup look I wore to a kiddie party to represent a princess, though not a specific one. Last weekend was my 4-year-old brother and sister's bday and we threw them a small "royal bash" to celebrate the occasion. They love anything and everything related to princes, princesses, kings and queens (my bro is more into knights and sorcerers), so all the guests had to dress appropriately. Sadly, both of them caught a bad cold and the party had to be postponed to a later date, but the parents decided not to waste the decorations and still hold a small family affair just to make the kiddies feel extra special. Being a crazy older sister, I had a gown planned and all, however, after hearing the bad news, I set my princess attire aside and settled for a tiara (borrowed from my sis) and lots of PINK all over. Here's my everyday princess makeup look worn to my brother and sister's 4th bday bash.

Today was a lovely day up in NYC (pix coming) and to conclude it on a high note, I'm gonna blog a little :)) Since I don't have a particular topic in mind, I'll just show you my recent makeup purchases and a swatch of my latest favorite lipstick. Here's moi, wearing Berry Haute, a medium purple creme lipstick from Revlon. Let me know if you like it or if you think I look like I drank too much vino... :/

Golden Coral Girl

Bonjour mes amis :))

Hope this post finds you in the best of spirits!! My spirits are rock solid as always, and can not be shaken no matter how hard anyone tries to rock the boat hehe... As some of you may know, my blog content (as well as other bloggers' content) has been stolen and though it's super lame, I'm making LAMEONADE and handling it the serious route. The spammer has been reported for abuse in areas of copyright infringement, impersonation and spam and I've done my best to contact other bloggers who have been affected by this. I'm also taking precautions and posting this at the end of every blog post, because I am copyrighted:

Nail Art: Ballet Fishnets

Salut mes amis!!

As some of you may know, I was the lucky winner of Yami's giveaway on her blog The Dark Side of Beauty. This week I received her package and was sooo thrilled to discover my prize: 8 beautifully packed nail polishes in total--7 tropical inspired polishes from Sinful Colors plus one gooorgeous color from OPI. I am dying to try all of them at once, so the next few of my nail posts will feature Yami's polishes.

Today, I created a simple nail art design using Easy Going from Sinful Colors as a base and Sally Hansen nail art pens in silver and black for the fishnets :)

Ni-hao mes amis!!

In today's post, I'm doing a review of two sets of lashes, sent to me by KKCenterHK. This company specializes in natural and synthetic lashes as well as wigs, nails, makeup and many more beauty related products. I received several pairs of upper and lower lashes and decided to come up with a cute / spunky look to suit these awesome falsies. Here's my colorful creation :)

Greasy-Smokey-Grungy-Chic

Salut mes amis and happy Sunday :))

Today's post is a throw-back makeup look I did a few weeks ago for a grungy outing in NYC's lower east side. Since I'm not much of a grunge girl (i. e. doc martens, band t-shirt, etc.) I usually stick true to my own style and add a bit of emphasis with my maquillage... but you knew that already. Grungy makeup is all about that "heroin chic" expressed by dark, sunken eyes, pale lips and a slightly greasy disheveled overall appearance. Here's my version (up close & personal w/ the eye) of a grungy / greasy smokey eye makeup look :))

Spring Breeze Pleez!

Salut mes amis!!!

If you're a New Yorker, there's only one thing on your mind right now: how to survive this record-breaking heat wave! I know I blab a lot about weather and the environment, but keep in mind; it is very relevant to beauty, fashion, makeup, etc. On days like today (dangerous heat index of 107° F / 41° C), I try to limit my outdoor exposure time and chill at home, under my AC. Unfortunately, today wasn't one of those days as I was forced to travel to class and back in the unbearable heat. As soon as I got home though, I cranked my air-conditioner and was inspired to remind myself of those breezy spring days I'm so longing for right now. Here's my little reminder :)
In other news, do check out my Purrfect Cat Eye guest post on Lilit's blog Makeup-and-Macaroons and follow her, if you haven't done so already. Beautiful Lilit is from the land down under and I'm so jealous b/c it's winter in Australia!!! :p

Summer Solstice Nails

Salut mes amis!!!

As you can tell by my pic, today's quickie post is a weekly update on my nails. After nearly 2 weeks of wearing the awesome Sally Hansen Kitty Kitty nail strips, I got a little tired of prints and wanted to go with a solid color on my nails (though I couldn't resist decorating my pinky nail). To celebrate SuMmEr, my favorite season, I went with a bright, neon coral-orange color because it reminds me of summer fun on the beach. The nail polish I'm wearing is Quirius nail lacquer in Sunshine Energy and I absolutely love it on short squared nails and tan skin. I mean, they can see me wavin' from a mile away :)))
