Black Caviar Nails

Hello friends :))

Today's nail design was created using products sent to me for review by the kind people at the Born Pretty Store. This online nail/beauty supplier offers tons of products for nail artists and enthusiasts; plus other gadgets, cosmetics, and hair items for all beauty lovers. For this nail design, I used a matte nail polish & some black rhinestones to create this Black Caviar inspired manicure:

Ball-Droppin' New Years Makeup!

Salut mes amis!!

If you can't tell by my "clever" post title, today's look is another makeup idea for New Years 2012 :)) In this post, I'm presenting a sleek cat eye cut-crease look that may seem tricky at first glance, but it's actually quite easy to recreate! This eye makeup appealed to me particularly because it looks as though it took a lot of time and effort, when in fact, it took no longer than your average smokey eye! I'm adding another easy step-by-step tutorial so that anyone can follow along and duplicate this one. So, check out this look if you're ready to stand out of the crowd when that ball drops!! Are you ready for New Years or what??!!!

Salut mes belles!!

I hope you had a very merry Christmas and/or are continuing your celebration of Hanukkah. With just a few days left before the new year, I'm going to try to dedicate the remaining month's posts to the big New Year's Eve fiesta. Let me know if you'd like to see something in particular by leaving me a comment here or e-mailing me at FixYourFaceMakeup at Gmail.com. For now, here's my sparkly smokey eye to glisten while you wait to see the ball drop. Likey?

Wintry for Hanukkah :)

Shalom my friends :))

Celebrating the second day of Hanukkah, I have a simple wintry makeup look inspired by the blue and white color combination of this wonderful Jewish holiday. As you know, I'm someone who celebrates it all... Not only am I a person of mixed background, but I am also a New Yorker who embraces all things culture related, hence I celebrate Xmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, New Years and more--bring it on!!! I love the festivities :)))

Casually Festive :)

Salut mes belles :)

I'm back with another quick and easy holidays themed makeup look. I've been spending this past week out of state visiting with my extended fam, so my past few posts were prepared ahead of time, except for today's, which is literally the makeup I've been wearing for the "family holidays" occasion. Whenever I travel on short trips, my makeup essentials include solely the Urban Decay NAKED palette, my mineral foundation, concealer, liner, mascara, some blush and one or two lipsticks. Hence, this is the fanciest look I could come up with using my very limited travel kit and wardrobe attire. Luckily, I'm in Pennsylvania aka vintage / antiques haven, so I got to dress up my plaid flannel shirt with some funky wooden 80's earrings I snatched for $1. Yay for casually festive :))

The Ghost of Xmas

Salut mes amis :))

Are you in the holiday spirit just yet? Is your house dressed up in lights, trees, candles and wintry decorations? Are you ready to sip on that eggnog & sing Christmas carols or will you be lighting your minora candles & spinning that dreidel for Hanukkah? As promised, my next few makeup looks for the month will be inspired by the upcoming holidays, and today's look is once again Christmas spirited. Honestly speaking, I'm not really an X-mas person, but since my blog space is all about positivity and good vibes, I'm embracing the holiday season and dropping my "Bah Humbug" attitude. Well, maybe not completely... after all, my look for today is entitled the Ghost of Christmas for a reason. Santa knows I'm sometimes naughty :)))

Tracks On My Snow-Nails

Hello beauty lovers :))

Time for my weekly nail update!! This wintry nail design was envisioned by my papa and created by moi. My dad is a poster artist and graphic designer, so he's always giving me funky and original (nail) art ideas. This "snow tracks" nail design is simple and easy to create, but with enough interest to make someone look twice and appreciate your mani. Best part--it goes with everything!!

Mistletoe Mistress

Salut mes belles!!

Happy Sunday!! With the holidays approaching ever so quickly, I've been getting a lot of requests for seasonal makeup looks, so the rest of the month will be dedicated to festive evening looks for the special occasion. I'll try to be as versatile as possible and include office appropriate looks as well as more specialized ones for both Christmas and Hanukkah. Today's maquillage is a classic Hollywood starlet inspired look featuring red (and a pinch of green), as it is probably the most worn color pop of the season. This look is simple enough for an office party, but can also be worn to a sexy Mistletoe singles mingle. Thank you all for your requests, comments, and questions--keep 'em comin'!!!

Mistletoe Mistress is in character :)))

Simply Organic!

Happy Friday mes amis!!

If you're a regular follower of my blog, then you remember that a couple of weeks ago, I reviewed some wonderful eyeshadows from an all Green makeup brand Zosimos Botanicals. I was so pleased with the quality of the shadows that one post was simply not enough and I decided to do another makeup look. My original "Rockin' Organix" look was quite conceptual and dramatic--I wanted to show that one can create an edgy makeup look using mineral eye shadows. This time, I'm featuring a very wearable, every day ensemble and something that even a makeup rookie can replicate. For a full review and description of the products and the brand, revisit my Rockin' Organix post or go to Zosimos' website for more info.

"No Makeup" Makeup made 4 CHILLIN'

Bonjour mes amis,

Question: How many of you prefer natural makeup over dramatic makeup?

Confession: I DO... *

*For every day, that is :)))

Every day does not mean school, work or shopping--these are all responsibilities that we wish weren't a part of our daily lives--hence, we want to look our best when are trying to achieve, accomplish and earn so that we can do the things we really like to do. What I'm taking about is something we New Yorkers like to refer to as CHILLIN'... We go to school and work, we run errands and pay our bills, we hustle and bustle, so that we can ultimately just chill. One can chill in front of the TV with a glass of wine or on a beach with a stack of magazines and a piña colada or simply sober on a nature trail, so whatever tickles your fancy, you can chill anyway you like!! For my chill occasions, I like to be simple: "no makeup" makeup, natural hair, my sweats and my smile :))) Off I go!

Tropical Holidaze

Salut mes belles!!!

Continuing with my festive theme, today's makeup post is inspired by my nails of the week from my previous post. A few people (myself included) thought that my fishy scaly nails were reminiscent of the Missoni pattern, and since I've already done that one (see my original version), today's look is pseudo-Missoni, though just as fun ;)) My dress is actually Zara, my nails are actually scales, and my makeup is more-or-less tropical inspired. Whatever you take from this post is up to you, I'm just here to share another beauty idea for the holiday season! Hope you likey :)))

Fish Scales Nails

Joyeux les Week-End!!

As you can see, today's post is featuring my nail art of the week and this time it's a bit fishy. I wanted to do something with animal prints, but since most animal skins have been played out by everyone, I decided to go with fish scales. I haven't seen a lot of fishy nail art, so I thought I'd give it a go. It's kinda weird and abstract up close, but from far away it simply looks like a textured purple mani. Anyway, here it is: purple-y, scaly, sequin, festive, abstract, ombre, mermaid-ish, strange and exciting nail art of the week!!!

All I Want for Xmas is: the NAKED Palette 2

Hellooo mes amis!

Yes, today is December 1st and yes that means that the Urban Decay Naked Palette 2 is officially not a mystery. Being an Urban Decay junkie and an absolute crackhead with my original Naked palette, I am seriously the first in line for my Naked 2! Hence, I am putting my request out there in the universe: All I want for Christmas is my Naked Palette Two!!! Thanks friends, fam and UD pr for noting ::wink wink:: :)))

Today's makeup was done using the original Naked palette and is a look requested by Sammie, who wanted to see a more dramatic evening look and tutorial using eye shadows from the infamous palette. One doesn't have to go bare to be NAKED :))
