Salut mes amis! Notice anything different about my hair? Nope, I didn't dye it nor cut it -- I didn't even undergo a special treatment, I simply started a brand new hair regimen and I can no longer keep it to myself!! If your hair is unruly and needs a little extra TLC like mine did, you cannot skip this post and you owe it to yourself to keep reading. Today's story is one of those "Specials" that I'll be sharing with every girl I come across -- it's just that important!

My Hair Story: In high school, I was the "hair girl". I had the most manageable, low-maintenance, long luscious locks that could be molded into any hair style without much effort. My life was so easy that I only knew of two hair-styling products: mousse and hair spray. I washed my hair as often as I pleased and hardly trimmed my ends, yet my mane was still shiny, healthy and glorious. As I grew out of my teenage years and entered into my twenties, my luck began to change. Little by little, my hair started to lose its famous luster, my ends became brittle (no matter how often I trimmed them), and one fine day, I discovered nearly a third of my hair rinsed off along with my conditioner at the bottom of the tub. Whether it was stress, hormones or both -- I'll never know; the only fact I knew was that I no longer were a "Hair Girl". Needless to say, I was devastated... I tried every remedy in the book, only to come to the conclusion that I had to learn how to live with my "new" hair. That's when I discovered flat-irons and curling rods and my hair story spun out-of-control, in a downward spiral of damage.
A few years down the line, the damage had grown out, but my hair had never been the same. At this point, I had gotten used to my thinner hair and I've also come to terms with the fact that I'm just not a hair girl. I kept my tresses very simple with hardly any styling, minimal heat, and a modest mid-length cut. My hair bored me and I had very little interest in caring for it. Once again, my hair story was on a down and in need of an uplift. A few months ago, something sparked inside of me and I decided that I wanted to once again be the "hair girl" that I once was. I became determined, started doing research, went to an expensive salon and even talked to a bunch of hair experts. All of them seemed to be resonating one very simple and peculiar message: they kept insisting that my hair was actually quite normal and all I needed to do was invest in a better hair dryer. Huh?
OK, I admit. I am embarrassed to say that I never considered a blow dryer as a styling tool and merely used my old $20 Conair to dry my wet hair. Every day. For many years. Causing irreversible damage and split ends. Yikes!
Since this revelation, I've trimmed off inches of dead weight and have started doing some serious damage control. My good friend Milly (Beauty Logic Blog) has recommended Coconut Oil, which she swears by, and I have to tell you -- this age-old remedy has been a life-saver for my split-ends. I've also started to treat my hair and scalp with natural hair masks like avocado, olive oil, mayo and my beloved coconut oil (Thanks to Milly :). The results have been astounding and I was that much closer to becoming a "Hair Girl" again. There was just one more hurdle in my way before the resolution of my hair story: the Hair Styling.
A couple of weeks later, I was presented with an opportunity to review some hair styling tools from NuMe -- the heralds of top-notch hairstyling -- I had actually been researching the brand for months, so I was really eager to test out their products and had a feeling that I was in for something really special. Little did I know that NuMe would resolve my Hair Story and open up a brand new volume.

HOW-TO: A NuMe Blow-Out for Every Day
- Start out with freshly washed, clean hair. Towel dry your hair so that it's damp and brush out any tangles.
- Using the highest speed and a medium heat temperature, point the airflow in a downwards motion to dry the hair for 1-2 minutes.
- Brush out the hair, add volumizing mousse and flip it over. Using a large paddle brush and a concentrator attachment, continue to dry the hair on the medium heat and speed settings, while brushing it upside down until it is fully dry (about 5-10 minutes depending on hair length and thickness).
- Flip your hair back (it will be very big and voluminous) and use a round brush to blow dry the sections around the face and crown.
- Optional: Roll the top sections into velcro rollers for added volume
- For added softness and shine, apply a small amount of NuMe Arganics Argan Oil to the hair length, concentrating on the ends.
RESULTS & FINAL THOUGHTS: Voluminous, soft, silky, shiny, healthy-looking hair. I have never been able to do a blow-out like this at home, especially in under 15 minutes. My hair is more manageable than it had been in years and I can't express to you how good it feels to finally be in control of my hair. I honestly feel like a brand new girl and everyone in my family has noticed it! Since using the NuMe Signature Ionic Hair Dryer, I've become a "Hair Girl" overnight and I just had to share this experience with all of you.

ReplyDeleteYou look gorgeous! I've had my own issues with hair so I can relate. Thankfully I am on the right track again. :)
ReplyDeleteYour hair looks nice :) I'm just too intimidated to use oil in my fine hair. I'm afraid it wil weigh it down.
ReplyDeleteI hear ya, I was intimidated at first too, but this oil is not "oily" at all, it's completely weightless and makes the hair look so healthy!!
DeleteI have always thought you had gorgeous hair. I love the volume it gave you though and I am in desperate need for volume, 'cause my hair is so thin. Thanks for the review!!!

your hair looks soooo good!
ReplyDeleteI had no idea that the hair dryer can make such a big difference. I've been using a Conair for years too and ever since I've started taking the time to blow dry my hair, I've noticed way too many split ends so I've been chopping my hair off to get rid of them but they keep coming back faster than ever. Soooo yeah.. great post. Now time for some damage control!
ReplyDeleteHow and when do you apply the coconut oil and how long do you leave it on? Would love to try it and the hair mask as well. Is it just equal parts of all the ingredients?
ReplyDeleteThe coconut oil can be used on your ends daily, it absorbs fast and doesn't leave your hair greasy, so no need to rinse it off - just use a little bit at a time. The other ingredients can be used alone or combined as a treatment. Apply the olive oil, for ex., wrap some plastic around your head or use a shower cap to lock in the heat, then wash it off in an hour :))
DeleteThanks Maryam, used the coconut oil and it works great! I'm going to try the other treatment this weekend :)
DeleteHello Maryam,
ReplyDeleteDoes the code expire? Tried using it today and it read that it was invalid :(!
