Spring Style: Casually Retro

Salut mes belles! It's Fashion Friday and I'm ready for a sunny weekend with today's subtle retro look. This Spring, I'm in the mood for flirty, laid-back separates and classic, feminine shapes reminiscent of the 50's. I'm diggin' the carefree elegance of rockabilly style and crushing over the full swing of poodle skirts paired with clicking peep-toe heels. I'm embracing the hourglass silhouette, and putting my curves on display -- after all, the winter is over and it's time to come out and play!

Today's outfit started with the shoes. I'm wearing:
  • Poetic License "Faithfully Yours" open toe pumps from PB&J Boutique
    • Material: Leather Upper
    • Features: Two-toned snake-skin embossed leather with gold flower detail accented with rhinestones; 3 1/4" ombré heels; hidden red in-soles.
    • Comfort: 9 out of 10; I'm wearing size 6.5 (0.5 size up)
    • Purchase: PB&J Boutique

PB & J Boutique specializes in a wide array of whimsical footwear, including brands like Poetic License and Seychelles, as well as vintage-inspired clothing, jewelry, handbags and other accessories. If you're like me and enjoy pieces with a bit of character and history to it, then you must click to visit PB & J Boutique and check out the merchandise. This shoppe offers a collection that is undeniably playful, quirky, and unique.
Similar to a lot of women, I sometimes like to build my outfits from the bottom up, especially when the shoes are as stunning as these artful "Faithfully Yours" pumps by Poetic License. As beautiful as they are, these delicate master-pieces are just as comfortable, and since comfort equals confidence, my ensemble is practically complete! These statement-makers can make any outfit pop, and would look killer with a bouncy red dress for a girls' night out (post coming up), but to keep things daytime casual, I chose crisp stripes and polka dots separates in classic black and white. P. S. I also paired these babies with my favorite Spring toe nail art: Incoco Garden Party Appliqués.

Skirt: Target
Belt: H&M
Accessories: Stella & Dot
Hair & Makeup: Casual finger waves; simplified pin-up makeup

Hair: I used Nume Signature Titan 3 25mm wand to curl 1 inch hair sections away from the face, by placing the wand behind the strands. TIP: Curling towards the face would result in a classic 50's wave, but I chose to modernize the look instead.

*Good for -- Curling Wands: Titan 3, Curl Jam, 3 Sum and 4PLAY, as well as classic curling wands and magic curling wands. Flat irons: silhouette, couture, vintage, fashionista and in vogue. Eye Makeup: Nude crease shadow, soft cat eye, and a pop of orange (Lime Crime uniliner in 6th Element) in the inner corner.
  • TIP: Wearing orange or red in the inner corner minimizes the appearance of redness in the whites of the eyes, thus making them brighter. It's one of my favorite Marilyn Monroe beauty tricks :)

Lashes:  House of Lashes Noir Fairy -- these exquisite hand-made lashes are perfect for bringing all attention to the eyes.

 Whimsically Windy, Marilyn Style :)
This simple, über-comfortable, feminine combo is perfect for curvaceous women and plays up the hourglass shape without giving up all the goods. Throwback retro style is my personal go-to for everyday elegance and lady-like poise. What's your signature style?
