Backstage Beauty with Missha at Behnaz Sarafpour - NY Fashion Week

Bonjour mes amis!! It’s NY Fashion Week and this year, I’m excited to be covering the latest fashion and beauty trends straight off the runway! On Friday, I had the pleasure of attending the Behnaz Sarafpour fashion show for her 2013 Spring / Summer Collection at the Jane Hotel in the Meatpacking District of NYC. The collection was supported by makeup from Missha with key makeup artist Val Garland, and hair by Aveda.

The Fashion: Soft, ethereal shapes, intricate lace and exquisite brocades flowed down the runway of the decadent ballroom of the Jane Hotel. The looks glimpsed at the past with artful reminders of lady-like poise and classic aesthetic in its romantic shapes, while at the same time showcased a forward-thinking attitude in its usage of sheer fabrics and strong angles.

The Beauty: Both brands “have a very modern, yet feminine sensibility that complement one another” says the designer of her partnership with Missha. Their similar aesthetic came together under the supervision of legendary makeup artist Val Garland, who has worked with Lady Gaga and Alexander McQueen. 

The Makeup: Garland and her team used Missha’s signature BB Cream over the Pore Silky Boomer to create the perfect base and coverage; then finished the skin with the Prism Bright-On Auto Powder, a mineral powder with a vibrating applicator to ensure the most precise and even coverage.

On the cheeks and eyes, Garland used the Style Defining Blusher in Sandy Brown and Salmon Pink and stained the lips using the limited edition lip palettes from the Fall/Winter 2012 Collection.
