Pink, Chocolate & Bubbly

Salut les filles :)))

Hope you're as excited about Friday as I am!! Today's post is a two-in-one: nail art of the week and makeup or face of the day. This week I wanted to pay homage to October's breast cancer awareness, so I was inspired by the color pink. Since I've done many many pink on pink makeup looks and nail creations, I wanted to introduce a complementary color--chocolate brown, to showcase how beautifully the two colors play off one another.
Read more for pix, deets, tips and more pink!

To create my fun and bubbly chocolate-y nail art, I simply used a brown nail polish as a base, waited for it to dry and dotted on pink and gold bubbles (dots). The nail products that I used:
  • Color Club Professional Nail Lacquer in Positively Posh (base). This color is definitely very posh when worn alone, but I'm not quite ready for solids, so I'll be saving this one for the winter months.
  • Sinful Colors Nail Enamel in Beautiful Girl (pink dots). Thanks to Nancy for this one!!
  • Soo Nails nail lacquer in #s120 (bronze accent nail base).
  • Sally Hansen nail art pen in Gold (gold dots).
  • Duri Rejuvacote as a base and top coat.

NAIL ART TIP: If you're unsure about your color scheme or potential design, try it out on a piece of paper as you would on your nails. I do this when I want to play around with colors to see which combo looks best. Make sure to use a thick piece of paper like cardboard or an old envelope of bills, so the polish doesn't go through on your table :))

Pick the combination you like and voila! Now you know exactly how it will appear on your nails!!! The pink and bronze swatches were my trials for the accent nail. I went with the bronze to give it some variety :)))

I love how this simple nail art looks against a simple outfit or a casual pair of blue jeans. It is fun enough to dress up the jeans without being loud or gaudy.

On to the maquillage!
To create my very "simple yet effective" pink and brown makeup look, I used:
  • Urban Decay Primer Potion (not shown)
  • NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in French Fries (used as a base under the eyeshadow to create the cat eye shape)
  • Shimmery Brown shadow from the NYX Haute Model palette marked with "M" (lid)
  • Matte Brown shadow from the NYX Jazz Night palette marked with "M" (wing)
  • Shimmery Pale Pink shadow from the NYX Haute Model palette marked with "M" (inner corner)
  • L'OrĂ©al telescopic mascara in Blackest Black
  • MAC On A Mission blush
  • MAC amplified lipstick in Warm Me Up
  • MAC cremesheen lipstick in Of Royalty (center of the lips for the ombre effect)
Voila!

For this eye makeup, I used only eyeshadow and base to create the cat eye. I love this style for it's fierce simplicity and the way it plays up asian eyes. This makeup makes me feel very young and bubbly, so go ahead and try it for a fun every day look :)))
