Line Up the Cat Eye Drama

Bonjour mes belles!!! Happy Wednesday :)

My look of the day is none other than my favorite go-to: a bold cat eye and a pinky lip. I always get a ton of comments on the way I line my eyes, so today I'm showcasing yet another style that's perfect for a day or evening makeup look. Notice that I'm extending the inner corner to make the eyes bigger and more exotic. This step is an option for those of you who aren't afraid of little drama... play it down with a simple pink or purple lip and there you have it--cat eye drama for any occasion!! Here's a slightly androgynous preview pic of moi wearing this simple yet effective maquillage :)))
Read more for tips, tricks & pix :)))

My EYEs are lined using Clinique brush-on cream liner in True Black. If you're looking for a jet black, opaque liner that is easy to apply and stays put all day without smudging or crumbling--this one is the best of the best and I swear by it.
  • To recreate the inner corner wing, just pull the skin corner towards your nose very gently and extend the line in the direction of your natural eye curve.
  • If you're new to "cat-eye-lining", check out my easy step-by-step guide / tutorial for beginners.

My LIPs are lined using Jordana lipliner in Mauve Silk and Prestige lipliner in Silk right over to create the perfect purpl-y nude base for MAC creemsheen lipstick in I Like It Like That. Check out my review and swatch of this lipstick here.
  • This lipstick is slightly lighter than my skin, so to make it work for me, I'm using a lipliner to offset it. I'll skip this step in the winter months :)))

WEAR THIS LOOK without any mascara or eyeshadow for a little playful daytime drama or line the waterline with a bit of black liner, add mascara + some shimmer to the lids for an edgy night time eye look. Line under the lower lash line for the ultimate dramatic effect and connect the lines to create an exotic, arabesque eye a la Princess Jasmine :))

TIP for ASIAN EYES: Line the waterline with a nude or beige liner to make the eye appear bigger and brighter. My favorite nude liners are Stila kajal pencil in Topaz and Carlo di Roma under-eye cover up pencil (used as eyeliner). Add mascara to the lower lashes for a doll eye finish.

Some famous examples of the Inner Wing Liner

Keep the rest of the face as neutral as possible: I'm wearing Bare Minerals matte mineral foundation in Golden Medium just on my problem areas and MAC Gingerly blush as a contour on my cheekbones.
Try out this maquillage if you're itchin' for something simple and edgy :))
How do you add your EDGE to everyday makeup?

  2. UGH! Mine never looks this nice! It's all the fault of my super round eyes. I did it nicely one time and have never been able to recreate it which is so sad because I love it so much.

Just come live at my house and do this for me every day, ok?

  7. love this take on cat eyeliner ... i need to try it! i usually wear a nude shadow and eyeliner every day, so this would be fun to do ... and i love the nude eyeliner by Stila, it works better than white when you have tan skin :-)

  21. I love how you brought it down on the inner corner. I wish I could do that myself, but my eyes are slightly different shapes so it always looks uneven if I do it XD

  22. Great tips, especially the one about the NUDE liner on the waterline. I often do white rather than black when I'm wanting to tone things down, I never thought to do nude. Also, thanks for the mention of the Clinique eyeliner, I have had a hard time finding a decent brush-on black liner.
