Salut mes amis,
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and feel rejuvenated and ready to tackle the new week!! My Monday has been hectic so far, but I'm handling it with a smile on my face, as always. My maquillage du jour is a bit different from my usual makeup looks, but I wanted to kick off the month of October on a slightly different note. Truth be told, I hardly ever wear green eyeshadow... I feel that it brings out the green tint in my skin and makes me look slightly sickly. Today, I wanted to confront my fear of the green by offsetting the eyeshadow with a bright pink lipstick and forcing the look to work for me. I was going for grungy rocker, just slightly more chic and polished... cuz it's true what they say: Every Rose Has Its Thorn :)))

For my EYES, I used:
- Maybelline Experwear Eyeshadow quad in Emerald Isle
- Clinique cream liner in True Black
- Laura Mercier kohl eye pencil in Black Gold (waterline and lower lash line)
- Yanqina 2 in 1 mascara. Read review here :)
- MAC blush in Gingerly (to blend out the harsh lines and add warmth to the eye)--also worn as a blush
On my LIPS, I'm wearing: MAC longwear lipcreme in Love Forever. Swatch and review here :)

Shimmery green eyeshadows can be very tricky, especially for non-green eyes. As always, the best beauty tip is to try out the color and see what works for you... In general, olives and emeralds are the most wearable greens, while lime and salad greens tend to brighten the eyes the most. To neutralize any shadow, especially green eyeshadow, line your waterlines with a liner that matches your eye color. In my case, I'm wearing a golden brown liner to make my brownies pop against the green.
I've always loved pinks and greens paired together in nature...
roses and thorns work on the face as well :)))
Q: What's your favorite green?
Q: How do you pair your green eyeshadow?
Q: What color are you most afraid of?
bisous,

ReplyDeleteOOh I love the lip color on you!! I still haven't found my favorite green, on a lookout!
ReplyDeleteI have a really hard time wearing green too because it makes my eyes look really red for some reason. I love the look of that palette though. I'm definitely going to check it out. I love the look on you although to be fair, I love all of the looks you do. Gorgeous girl!

How beautiful! Why you so scared of green, girl? It makes your peepers POP. :D
ReplyDeleteI lurve me some dark greens... my fave is probably MAC Humid. :)
I love to pair greens with... other greens lol. I am a bit boring like that but I also like to pair it with purple and browns. :)
I'm kind of scared of yellow lol. I find that it might make me look like I have jaundice or something... if not, make me look yellower.
you pull off green so well
ReplyDeletelovly look, love ur lipcolor,
ReplyDeletei love olive green and pure green (my flag color) :) usually blend with golden and black
am afraid of all colors lolzz :) cuze we need to blend them with techniq otherwise they will not response us as per our wish. :)
My 88 warm palette has an amazing olive green that I love! You are so pretty Maryam :)
ReplyDeleteLooooving the lip color!!!! Great job hun.
ReplyDeleteWHOA that lip colour is stunning! And I can't imagine green eyeshadow every making you look green. :)
ReplyDeleteMy favourite greens are MAC Lucky Green and something like Concrete Minerals Swamped. I usually pair greens with even darker or brighter greens, but I do like a green lid with a hot pink crease!
I'm still a little scared of blue and black eyeshadow in the crease, for fear of looking like a hooker or just having a very hard time blending it out.
thanks ladies :)) the reason it looks somewhat ok is because i paired it with that bright lip, otherwise, I'd sure look green hahaha
ReplyDeleteIt looks awesome, I love this colour combo on you!!
ReplyDeletegorgeous look! I like olive and darker greens best on me, I usually pair them with a beige-y nude lip but loved your brights look and the colour im most scared of is blues/silver basically cool themed colours they really wash me out xx
ReplyDeleteOMG!!!! I love this look!! I love love love the lipstick that you wore!! I am obsessed with fuchsia pink lipsticks... I gotta have Love Forever!! I can't believe you got it at the CCO for $11.25!!!! so lucky!!! thanks for sharing! I am so putting this on my wish list.. =)
ReplyDeleteAww you are hawt very beautiful lipstick color :)
ReplyDeleteYou look so gorgeous babe, as always. Whenever I wear green on my eyes I usually pair it with a nude lip as I feel anything bright just makes me look like a clown! But you carry off the bright lips with the green beautifully.

ReplyDeleteYou look so gorgeous in that first pic...can't believe you're afraid of green (you are rockin it)!!
ReplyDeleteBtw,thanks for joining my blog!...just checked yours out & will definitely be doing the same! :)
I think you did an awesome job of picking out flattering greens! Green is actually one of the colours I am "scared" of. Not scared per se, but I have a hard time making greens wearable as I just can't find any that look natural on me.
