Romantic Summer Date!

Bonjour mes amis and Happy Friday!! I know you're happy to "read" me say that!! As a special Friday treat, I've created a romantic makeup look perfect for a hot summer date, using brand new products that I haven't yet featured on my blog, so I'm super excited and hope you enjoy what's in store for you today! :))

Read more for pix, tips, reviews & how-to's:

This Romantic Summer Date look was created using Too Faced* cosmetics -- a brand never before featured on my blog, but one you'll be seeing a lot more of in the future. For my first look and review, I'm using Too Faced Romantic Eye Collection, which is quite probably the most perfect palette for a summer date! Even if you're not in a romantic mood, you will be, just take a look at the adorable packaging of this palette -- it instantly makes you want to be more girly and flirtatious!

Included in the package are a sample primer (full size pictured below) and three cards with tutorials on how to create a day, classic and fashion look using the eye shadows from the palette.

Why I love it:
  • Great balance between shimmery and matte shadows -- any makeup enthusiast knows that matte eye shadows are absolutely essential in creating a balanced shimmery look and this palette has definitely got you covered in that department. Out of the 9 shadows, 4 have varying degrees of shimmery finishes (Soulmates, Cut the Cake, Honeymoon & Ever After) while the rest are matte.
  • Excellent Pigmentation / Opacity / Consistency -- when thinking about eye makeup, these are the words that determine whether the product is good quality. The eye shadows in this palette did not fall one bit short of my expectations. High pigmentation / opacity (coverage) is achieved with minimal product, while blending the shadows is seamless, yielding little to no fallout.
  • Wearable colors perfectly suited for many eye colors -- although the palette features a green "romantic" eye, the shades are very versatile and would complement any eye color.

My "Summer Romance" Look
My Romantic Summer Date look is über shimmery and sultry. Since I was actually going on a date with my beau, I wanted my eyes to pop and shimmer in the candle lit ambiance of our favorite French restaurant. The colors in this palette work particularly well with my bronzed summer complexion :)) Side Note: The photos in this post were taken late in the PM.

My Chart
My Primer: Too Faced Shadow Insurance -- a well-loved, fan favorite product :))
My Lashes: Ardell lash accents #305-- perfect for enhancing a smokey cat eye
My Eyeliner: Revlon Colorstay liquid liner in Shimmer Black-- used to help conceal the lash accents
My Macara: L'Oréal Voluminous Carbon Black--used sparingly on the top and bottom lashes
My Lip Liner: NYX lip liner in Natural-- used to frame the lippies
My Lip Gloss: Too Faced Glamour Gloss in This is Pretty! -- a gorgeous rosy pink lip plumping gloss that is also perfectly named -- it is just so pretty and nothing less than pretty!!! P. S. Stay tuned for a big review of the Glamour Gloss Collection coming up :))

Bringing back my Kissy-Face for the Summa :))

  43. Thank you SO much for this beautiful tutorial. I am very fair skinned, with blue eyes that tend to go gray when I put the wrong colors around them. I am always trying to find shadows and techniques that will accent the color of my eyes, not wash it away. This is right up my alley!

I think that is so interesting that we can share a look, you are so dark and beautiful and I look like I'd burst into flames in direct sunlight! I really do love what you've done with placement and blending and I am literally on my way to try this right now! Thank you again for taking the time to share your talent with people like me. Best wishes and XOXO!!
