Hot Tips, Cool Buns

Bonjour mes amis :) Today's post is a two-in-one and it's from my "On the Edge" series where I take every day looks and spice them up with a dose of "special". The result: hot & spicy nail tips and cool upside down braid-bun!

Keep reading to learn how to get yours :))

HOT TIPS
Super-duper easy nail art how-to:
  1. Apply your base coat followed by 1 or 2 coats of your base color. Choose a neutral beige that is similar to your natural nail color.
  2. Take your yellow nail polish (or any other color of your choice) and paint the entire nail tip in one stroke from one side to the other. If you're new to doing nails, use a tape stencil. Let it dry.
  3. Take your orange nail polish (I went for a gradient effect) and paint over the previous color using the same technique, starting about a mm higher. My tips are approximately 3 mm long, so I visually divided the tip into 3 parts to be painted. Let it dry.
  4. Using the same side to side one swipe technique, paint the third line over the previous color using your final (red) nail polish. Since this line is thin, it helps to use a fine nail brush, however, this can easily be done with a regular nail polish brush. Visually divide the second (orange) color into two parts and paint over the ladder. Let it dry.
  5. Finish the manicure with a top coat.
  Nail polishes I used:

       COOL BUN
This one--not as easy--but with practice, it can be done!

This hairstyle is best achieved with day old hair (yes! mine hasn't been washed in 3 days) and if you know how to do a Dutch braid, then you're half way there. If not, here's a good link that also includes a tutorial for a French braid :) For this hairstyle, the Dutch braid is upside down, meaning I started at the nape of my neck--not at the top of my head--and had to bend over while braiding.
    1. Take a small section of hair at the nape of your neck and divide it into three parts as you would for a braid. Make sure your hair is well brushed.
    2. Start your Dutch braid with the middle section crossing the outer section as explained in the video and continue braiding / weaving parts into the braid until you reach the top of your head.
    3. Brush the hair above your forehead and tie it into a ponytail with the braid.
    4. Using a hair donut or an old sock method (my choice), make a high bun at the top of your head and the hairstyle is complete!
