Strawberry Love Swirls Forever

Salut chicas :))

Thank you all so much for your kind words and well wishes regarding hurricane Irene. Thankfully, she passed rather quickly and spared us a major power outage (some of my friends weren't as lucky). Being stuck indoors the entire weekend, I was bored out of my mind; until I decided to take advantage of my free time to practice water marbling on my nails. Having the extra time and patience paid off well and I think I finally succeeded!! With Irene's swirling winds long gone, my nails are now marked with swirling twirling winds of love in bright strawberry pink :))) excuse my corny, I just can't help myself... I find meaning in everything. Here's the impression she left behind:

Water Marbling Scoop: Click here to watch a tutorial done by a YouTube pro. I'm no pro, just a beginner (see pix haha)--and through trial and error I've learned a few tips to share with you guys:
  • Use room temperature filtered water in a small, plastic or foam disposable cup. The smaller the circumference of the cup, the more control you have over your design.
  • When creating the bull's eye for drawing your swirls, choose polishes that take longer to dry. As much as I love my Sinful Colors, they dry way too quickly and are practically impossible to manipulate on water.
  • Use a toothpick or a needle to drag the lines of color, but do not pierce the bull's eye.
  • Take advantage of a successful marbling and dip two fingers in.

My tools & my medium :)
Base and Top Coat:
Marbling Design:

Tools: Scotch tape for taping off the nails & toothpicks for drawing the designs in the polish

Left hand: I'm particularly proud of my pointer finger :)
Right hand: liking the way my ring finger turned out :)
From afar, this design looks like very wearable solid pink polish :)
Hide any imperfections with Sally Hansen nail art pen :)
Spread the love <3

So, who's up for the challenge? I tag all of you :)))

bisous,

  1. I've actually never been a fan of water marbling (I was addicted to watching her tutorials though lol) but it's perhaps because her nails are too long which makes the pattern look TOO busy! I love how it looks on short nails and the silver accents definitely added the finishing touch! I loveeee!
