Blue and Purple Raindrops

Happy Rainy Wednesday mes amis :))

This week has been a little busy, so excuse my lack of long & detailed posts. As always, when my life gets hectic, I usually just take pix moments before I run out the door and write the post later, hoping that my makeup of the day is interesting enough to be the subject of the post. Besides, my blogging philosophy is about consistency: "make time, regardless of how busy you are" (that's my pep talk to myself :)) Anyway, feeling inspired by blue and purple raindrops as well as my glitter nails of the week, here is the maquillage I wore today:
Too much for a rainy Wednesday? Read more :)

Whenever I get pale in time for the winter, my Asian side comes out of hiding and becomes more evident and pronounced. In turn, I always get the urge to decorate my "Asian" with appropriate colors and makeup techniques. I don't believe in concealing ethnic features, so drawing attention to my flat, almond eyes is my go-to makeup trick. For this look, I did precisely that: I concentrated on my natural eye slant and made it even more Asian daahlingg. Here's how I did it:
To play up my almond brownies, I used several blue, gray and iridescent purple shimmery shadows from the Coastal Scents 36 Smokey Eye Palette. I concentrated the darkest colors on the outer corners and highlighted the inner and center portions of my eyes with brighter and lighter eye shadows. I used a purple cream shadow liner to line my top and bottom lash lines and finished the eye look with purple mascara on my lashes. TIP: Color mascaras have a tendency to make the eyes (all eyes, not just Asian) look smaller, so to counter-balance this effect, I darkened the outer corners of the eyes and extended them towards the temples a la "cat-eye" style. I also lined the waterlines using a white pencil liner for a brightening effect.
PRODUCTS USED:
  • Coastal Scents 36 Eye Shadow Smokey Palette (shadows marked w/ "M")
  • Buxom Stay-There Eyeshadow in Schnauzer (used as liner)
  • Ben Nye all purpose liner in White (waterline and center of lips)
  • LA Splash mascara in Purple Splash (bottom lashes)
  • LA Splash mascara in Electric Eel (top lashes)
  • NYX lip liner in Natural
  • No name clear gloss
  • Bare Minerals matte foundation in Golden Medium
  • Benefit Erase Paste in 03 Dark (concealer)
  • MAC sheer tone blush in Gingerly

Don't fear the blue eye shadow, play it down by pairing it with gray or make it more interesting with purple :) Try both and be fancy!
Gloss up the lippies or skip the gloss for a natural pout :)
bisous,
