Sunday Eye

Salut mes belles!! It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood and today's post is a quick EOTD (who else is thrown off by the daylight savings?) showcasing my gold and gray Sunday eye makeup look. On a bright, cheerful, "daylight-saving" day like today, I love to wear shimmery gold eye shadows to reflect the sunlight and bounce off the rays on to everyone I lay my eyes on! I have a busy fun-filled day lined up ahead of me, so this is my perfect playful look to transition me from daytime to party-time!

Blue Birdie Chipper & Chirpin'

Chirp Chirp old friends and new & Happy Friday!! Today's makeup is easy-breezy--showing off a fun, simple way to wear bright blue eyeshadow. Earlier this week, I observed a flock of blue jays chirpin' away outside of my window and was immediately inspired to do a makeup look. Voila--here it is--my creation of blue and chipper!

Marilyn Makiaj isn't afraid of color!

Salut mes belles!! The look I'm featuring today is part of a colorful makeup competition I entered on the Makeupbee beauty community which was personally inspired by the awesome wig sent to me by the lovely people at KKcenterHK. The contest rules call for a look that is fun, vibrant and colorful, so without a second thought, I put on my wig, grabbed my Coastal Scents palettes and got to work. The prize is an amazing collection of Sugarpill eyeshadows (the makeup brand that is pretty much synonymous with color and saturation) and I'm excited to share that three winners will be chosen to receive the prize! Pink on Pink a la Emma

Bonjour mes belles!! As you can see from the preview pic above, my maquillage du jour is inspired by none other than red carpet starlet Emma Stone. Emma was one of my favorite ladies at Sunday's Oscars and I couldn't help but recreate her pretty makeup look. I brightened up the eyes and lips to better suit my coloring and I aimed my look for daytime wear.

Favorite Fashion & Beauty choices from the Oscars 2012

Salut mes amis and Congratulations to 'the Artist' and Jean Dujardin for sweeping the Oscars last night!!! I said it on FB and I'll say it again, I LOVE THE FRENCH!!! I was also really proud of Octavia Spencer, she was so cute in her acceptance speech, and Meryl Streep, even though it was her gazillionth Academy win... all in all, I wasn't disappointed and I thoroughly enjoyed covering the Oscars fashion on Twitter and Facebook!

In today's Oscar's fashion and beauty assessment, I am featuring all the looks that I liked and some that I didn't get. This time, I'm not issuing a report card as I did with my Golden Globes assessment, because to me, all the choices were on the rather safe side. The above collage features some of my favorites:

Welcome old friends and new!!! Happy 1000!!! It was an absolute delight to see a 4 digit number appear in my followers box and I couldn't be more excited--yay to all of you, yaaaaayyyy!!! Today, I'm celebrating this joyous occasion with a funky-neon-90's-inspired manicure to brighten up my Monday and yours :))) I'm typically into girly manicures (i. e. my Valentine's nail looks 1 & 2), but I was itching to try something different this time. Invigorated by the positive feedback I received for my "highlighter & hardware" eye look from a few posts ago, I decided to revisit the concept and do a nail design from the same series. Voila!

Date Night!

Salut mes belles! Today's look is a recreation of a gorgeous date night look I saw on Beautylish's resident beauty and mua Jasmine J. I hardly ever do makeup recreations, but this look was so stunning and the tutorial so well put together, that I simply couldn't resist! I wore this date night makeup last night while out and about, and also to my mom's bday dinner--needless to say, it was a great success :)) The face chart picture used for the collage is borrowed from the Beautylish tutorial, so go ahead and check out the original if you're interested in copying this look.

Naked palettes for every day!

Bonjour mes belles!!! I hope you all had a lovely Valentine's Day with your beaus <3 or if you didn't celebrate, I hope you are happy and healthy and your week is going great! My week has been busy as heck, as February is always a really big month for me. Not only is there Valentine's Day, but every single important person in my life was born in this month, so the celebrations are endless and I literally don't have any days to myself--not that I am complaining! February is great and I love every single Aquarius in my life :)) During this hectic time, my makeup routine is usually very quick and simple for every day, and this is where my beloved Naked & Naked 2 palettes have come in very handy. The 2 looks I'm featuring today have been my transitional day-to-evening makeup ensembles, and I've been wearing them to various casual & semi-casual functions.

Hi everyone!

Please update your bookmarks & links, because I'm out with the old & in with the new! Maryam Maquillage is now a self-titled domain name and is working on big things, soon to come. What you see here is the same content and format you're used to on the old blog, but get ready for an evolution. Things will be moving, shaking, and updating; though I'll still be writing my reviews and creating new makeup looks, nail art, and other beauty goodies. Thank you so much for all your sweet messages and tweets and I apologize for the blackout on my page, it won't happen again--not without prior warning! I was so sad and lost, that I even started a Tumblr lol... I truly felt like a mother without a child, lost in the desert somewhere hehe...

But, ALAS, I am found and my child is all grown now. This pic was taken somewhere in Nevada, a couple years back. In this photo, nature is at its best: she is showing off her soaring mountains, clear blue skies and endless beauty in space. I'm in there, somewhere, too :) There is a world of possibilities out there and I'm finally in the right "picture frame" of mind!

Eye: Reinvented

Hello Old Friends and New!!! Great news!!! Maryam Maquillage is graduating and moving on up, so a change is gon' come, oh yes it will :)) 2011 has been a great year and 2012 has already been even better, so I'm rolling with the wind and I'm taking this blog to the next level. My previously used slogan 'Fix Your Face' has been dropped and I will soon be smoothly transitioning to a new domain name. The truth is, there's nothing wrong with you or me in the first place, so why fix things? No need! With that said, I will keep on beauty blogging and banging out post after post, because that's really what I'm here for. So, let me get started on my maquillage du jour :)

Today, I'm reinventing myself with a crafty new makeup look focusing on the eyes. I've been getting back into theMakeupBee community and the ladies there are so darn creative and talented, that I've been inspired to turn up the drama and bring on the eye makeup!! This look is fairly minimal, but the colors and chunky glitter "liner" give it lots of intensity and volume. Wanna learn?

Hot Morange & Naked 2 Cool

Hola chicas :)) I'm back with another NAKED 2 look and tutorial. This time I'm pairing the eye shadows with one of my favorite lipsticks of the moment: MAC Morange (pic borrowed from Temptalia). I wanted to try a warm look using this cool-tone labeled palette, and I couldn't think of a better pairing than hotter-than-the-sun Morange. As always, I'm including a written tutorial and some makeup tips that are sure to warm up your winter!

Mwa-ha-ha! Salut mes belles! Today's post is the first installment for my Valentine's Day series. In the upcoming few days, I'll be sharing makeup looks and more nail art appropriate for le jour de l'amour, whether you'll be celebrating or anti-celebrating this Day of Love. I designed my current nail creation to fit both categories, as it has a love/hate relationship with this special occasion. The color combo is vibrant, yet vicious, and it almost hurts the eye screaming for its attention. I guess that's how some of us feel about Valentine's Day, and if that sounds like you, then this anti-Valentine's inspired manicure may just be for you ;))

Salut mes belles & Happy February!! Today, I'm ecstatic to present my first ever makeup look using the coveted Urban Decay Naked 2 palette. The look I'm featuring is a classic smokey eye and glossy nude lip ensemble, right on schedule with the upcoming Valentine's Day celebration. In this post, I'm reviewing the palette, comparing it to the original, and as always, showing off the makeup and providing instructions on how to achieve it. Hooray!!
